Hello folks, I wanted to run named 8.3.3 in a UML (patchlevel 46) with a huge amount of zones. The UML-box itself runs the actual Debian 3.0. The box runs in SKAS mode properly, everything works fine. I know, that starting up the same nameserver with the same zones on a physical machine needs about 300MB for the named process, so i was curious whats about uml with this. The start of named is very time consuming, I think it took a few hours. When it was start up in the morning, I saw the following error again and again: map : /proc/mm map failed, errno = 12 This is the named process: USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND root 190 23.2 60.7 295716 292932 ? R Jan16 136:50 /usr/sbin/named netstat -tulpen shows me no open port 53. The box is online, but it is a little bit slower than I am used it normally would. The host itself has 512MB RAM physically installed with a swap of 256MB. The memory usage of the host is normal, i.e. normal amount of allocation of physical and virtual mem. The host runs Debian 3.0, too. Greetz, Tom |
