I regularly run jtag inside gdb&kdbg to trace segfaults and other
issues. It's helpful to enable gdb support at compile time:

./configure CFLAGS=-ggdb

But even without -ggdb, gdb should be able to tell you where jtag
crashed from the stack dump.
