OK, i tried, see tora-version.patch. may not be the best solution but it works for me.

Does Tora needs the Oracle version before a session has been authenticated? i'm not sure about that
so i call getVersion() twice: in attach() and connect() where the latter call overwrites the
possibly wrong value gotten by the first call.
