That's really troubling, as I hope that one day we can lick this connection problem, and the one thing I hoped to hold out to the Emacs maintainers was: it works fine on XEmacs.... I checked in proxy code a long while ago (18 months?) and, oddly, if I connect through a proxy, the connection is made nearly instantly. I don't know why in the world this would be so, but it is. Try using it (if you have a HTTP proxy server handy), and see if it works. If you have an apache server and a linux box, I can tell you how to have a proxy server running in just a few minutes. It's pretty easy. -- Regards, joe Joe Casadonte jca...@no... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Llama Fresh Farms => http://www.northbound-train.com Ramblings of a Gay Man => http://www.northbound-train.com/ramblings Emacs Stuff => http://www.northbound-train.com/emacs.html Music CD Trading => http://www.northbound-train.com/cdr.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Free, that's the message! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
