Hi, I think it's no problem, i.e, that's fine when calling del_timer_sync() on BH context. Actually I guess you may see some comments for del_timer_sync() in kernel/time.c file. The comments warn the user the del_timer_sync() cannot be called from interrupt contexts. However, I want to clarify its claimed "interrupt contexts" just refers to hardirq contexts. But I can confirm that on softirq context it's absolutely safe to invoke it.
