Hi,

just installed the 2.0.0.7 version. and i use it in conjunction with R 2.7.2.

The integrated Rterm works fine, but I don't like it, thatswhy I want to use the gui.

When using the R gui and I select some lines and then use the menu to perform the action (send lines to R), then everything works. However, when doing the same with the keyboard shortcut, then I see the generated line
eg,

source(.trPaths[5], echo=T)

but it is not executed. If I go now to the Rgui and press enter, it works. But this is not the way it should be working, of course. in a way, the "enter"-key is not submitted when doing something by shortcut.

Is this a config issue?

best,
s

    Hi,

    update:
It seemingly has something to do with the type of shortcut. I assigned "ALT + S" for sending lines. Now, if I use "F1" instead, everything works fine. But in the previous version of Tinn-R the use of "ALT + S" didn't cause any problems and worked well.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Dear Jose,

I am using Tinn-R 2.0.0.7 with R 2.7.2 on Windows XP Professional, English version. I also have the problem that the hotkeys with this new release do not work. I can send only a single line at once from Tinn-R to R (I have tried 'F5' and 'Ctrl+S') but I am unable to send more lines (I have tired 'Ctrl+F5' and 'Alt+S'). Neither the path 'R > Send' from the menu nor did the icons work. R returned the message 'Error in source(.trPaths[5], echo = T) : object ".trPaths" not found' in all cases (sometimes [5] was [4] or [7]). Uploading Tinn-R 1.19.4.7 which worked without problem in this respect would be a great help until this problem was fixed.

Otherwise, I like this software very much, it is really a superb aid for using R, and is really useful in teaching. I am writing a short introduction to Tinn-R for my students available here:

Are You planning to make a Linux version later? It would be useful.

    Bests, Janos

    Dear All,

Well, I am sorry for my yesterday letter: reading the release notes of Tinn-R > 2 the shortcut solution emerges, although it is not easy to understand for those who are not familiar to Tinn-R and computers. I try to explain. Since I have to explain it to my students as well, I do not repeat it here. See the link below. Any comment is welcome to jkis@hungarnet.hu.

    Hi,

sorry, but you do not explain anything which is not readily available from the installation instructions. The problem described by the original post is not that the system does not know about .trPaths (which seems to be the most often encountered problem, as apparently nobody reads the installation instructions)

As the post says, everything works if "F1" is used as a hotkey instead of "ALT+S".
I do not know if this error depends somehow on the system config, but I could reproduce it on different computers. I guess that Jose is not aware of it, since he uses the F- function keys to send something to R.

Did you try to use "ALT+S" as a shortcut after configuring the R profile correctly?
