Well. First of all, for your situation (1) below, you can set homepages for "groups". If you put the user in a group with its own homepage, he can have a homepage that is different from other users. This can be done as is with Tiki, without use of custom script. For your second situation (2) below, I think default behaviour is for user to be sent back to the page where he is logging in from. Do you really need to customize the login script, and is tiki-login.php not sufficient? Tiki-login.php right now remembers the page the user is logging in from and send them back later. This makes sense, for the case you describe in (2) below and also when a user clicks on a link that is sent by Tiki watches notification emails.
