I like the list of things that are already planned all of these things are good ideas I'd like to suggest these as well. Are the unfinished tasks from the 1.5 going to rolled up to the 1.6? http://sourceforge.net/pm/task.php?group_project_id=25377&group_id=64258&func=browse From that list of intrest to me are: 1. Set a group as forum moderator (I think that this should be related to the idea on the feature list - More than one owner for a blog 2. Add TOC feature for Wiki pages 3. Add "Remember Me" checkbox in login box Ideas from the Request for features list: 1. Links in definition lists -- http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=656973&group_id=64258&atid=506849 2. More than one owner for a blog -- http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=640704&group_id=64258&atid=506849 ( this idea should be extended to allow a group (as defined by the admin)or several individuals (as defined by the origional owner) to own any object - blog, file gallery, image gallery etc... 3. Edit CSS files online like templates. http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=640702&group_id=64258&atid=506849 . I have seen some good examples of this in packages one that comes directly to mind is PowerPhlogger (a hitcounter package) http://www.phpee.com/ . New Ideas for the 1.6: 1. Add a daily statistics block to the stats page that only shows what has happened today since 00:00. Log hits, referals, pages edited, pages created, blogs posted, articles posted, anything else... At the end of the day the new day begins fresh. 2. Track operating system, browser, monitor resolution, color depth for hits. Often this requires a call to .js in the header.tpl. see the PowerPhlogger site for an example or I can provide one from http://stats.thetinfoilhat.com . For more info about this tool please go to: http://www.phpee.com/ or contact me and I will allow temporary admin access to my stats site. Anyone from this list can register and use the hitcouner at http://stats.thetinfoilhat.com. 3. Add a NewsGroup Reader. We have a webmail reader it would be nice to add the feature to read Newsgroups. The example I would point you to is MyNewsGroups :). http://sourceforge.net/projects/mynewsgroups/ . A working example of this is available at http://thetinfoilhat.com/NewsGroups/ . This package looks like it could be modified to be a Tiki module as it can already be used as a (very simple) PostNuke module. I believe that this could be a valuable addition to the Tiki features as almost everyone has access to http from anywhere, while behind many business firewalls nntp is not available. Recently sourceforge started a beta for allowing news reader access (SSL) to the mail lists. 4. Better methods of themeing a site as discussed in: http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=786520&forum_id=217229. 5. The features discussed in this thread: http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=787517&forum_id=217229 about Wiki Addons most especially the feature of having two content sections (one that is formal content and displayed as a page while the other is informal content and could be used to make notes about the content development or translations or new content to be added to the page). The Forum thread contains a better detailed description of the feature. 6. Feature to generate either static html as a file set (with images) and/or a PDF from tiki pages and articles. Not a new idea but deserves to be done: 1. Complete documentation in Tiki format. Even if this cannot be totally completed by the time that 1.6 is ready to be released it could be well along the way and moving forward. This can be done as a community effort and will grow as we improve it. Lets use the power of the Tiki and produce a complete documentation package that can either be loaded int a tiki site via a .sql or sent and received via the send and receive pages feature. These things are not listed in any form of priority order just ordered the way I thought of them. Hummm, Did I forget to add the kitchen sink? :-)) Al Brown "Garland Foster" <gar...@fi...> To: <tik...@li...> Sent by: cc: "Marc Laporte" <ma...@pi...> tik...@li...urc Subject: [Tikiwiki-devel] 1.6 brainstorming started, why not? eforge.net 01/08/03 08:15 AM Hi guys, The feature list of 1.5 is closed from now only bugfixing is allowed on that version. The stable 1.5 release is scheduled for early February. Meanwhile why not start to discuss 1.6, there's a task list at Sourceforge with some tasks, up to now the plan is: - Classified adds - Directory (Dmoz style link management) - Factorization of tikilib in smaller libraries phase 2 - A desktop WYSIWYG application for offline wiki page creation - Mailin feature for wiki editing So we have some room for new features, enhancements and improvements. As usual this list is where you can start suggesting ideas and so. Marc Laporte will be coordinating the list during the break. Garland. |
