I had a problem with XAMPP when Tiki got PDO, but otherwise haven't had much trouble due to using Windows. I switched to WampServer2 and don't have any trouble, running trunk and some of the branches. There have been glitches from time to time that seem to be Windows-specific, so maybe there's something particular in what Alain is doing that causes a problem.
