This is related, and yet at the same time not... I've been looking for some software to do some internal training vids for my staff at work for Tiki. (Obviously, anything that can be publicly released, I will certainly make available...) I have come across an open source project called CamStudio OS (OS=Open Source, distinguishes it from the commercial CamStudio...long story). It appears to be a fairly decent desktop recorder that incorporates microphone audio. I'm not sure what Ricks uses, but I don't think I've heard any audio on his tutorials (not that I've had opportunity to view many of them). I believe it also allows subtitles. Anyway, thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone else was thinking about doing a tutorial but didn't have the software to record from desktop. I looked at Windows Movie Maker but it takes video from pretty much any source other than the desktop. The link to the site is: http://camstudio.org/. I plan on recording a training session tomorrow (one I've performed about 6 times...2hrs each session, but could never record!). I'll post my findings if anyone is interested. Unfortunately the presentation will contain proprietary info so I won't be able to post it. Mike. |
