Hi Tiki Community, As some may have noticed, we finished a first release candidate for Tiki 1.8 yesterday. The brave people upgrade now :-) Notice, that automatic upgrade from a release candidate is not supported, and you'll have to have some little SQL experience (adding/removing/changing columns) to do that. This release candidate has a new database layer. We switched from Pear::DB to adodb and made Tiki database independent. So it is now possible to run tiki on Postgres, Oracle, Sybase (probably MSSQL) and SQLite (which is built in in PHP 5.0). More will follow: developers work on Informix, DB2 and MSSQL. The tiki installer gets more and more comfortable, articles, newsletters, forums, structures are enhanced, and we have some features: the mapserver, dynamic variables, a Jabber plugin ... read more in the changelog and http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=ReleaseProcess18 We want to add some more features and enhancements until final 1.8. So we'd like to fix search functionality (that's the most important for me), make trackers categorizable, enhance installer some more, enhance performance .... Help would be appreciated. Flo |
