To put it in summary, During the summer months, a redesign has been worked on. There is a currently accepted high level design, which more or less attempts to modularize everything via modules, plugins, and proxies. Xandi, do you have the final diagram that was last accepted? I made some irc traffic write ups that are more or less modeled after the linux-kernel-traffic stuff. I also maintained several versions of designs that I believe were keeping with the ideas discussed by the prime developers (more or less). The new design (in eps format), irc-traffic, several UML based designs that I came up with (in jpg and DIA formats) are available at http://arlut.utexas.edu/~bresie/3d I believe, if memory serves me correct, that the links on that page at the top ("New 3Dsia Structure Diagram" and "Client Daemon Diagram") are the newest stuff from xandi and company. The stuff on the bottom are diagrams that I tried to create to visualize the designs I had been discussing with xandi, Manfred, etc on irc. See the "UML Design Diagram (version 5)" - I believe was the last one I worked on A lot of the other stuff on that page are slightly older and may not be quite 100% in the new ideas currently desired. I will try and remove outdated stuff as soon as I can identify which is still appropriate and which are not. I have kind of gotten off the Chat Log traffic stuff recently, because I have been in the process of moving and assorted other things at work which have kept me from irc also. Plus when I have been, there has not been as much 3Dsia related stuff. I believe xandi was re-implementing the client/server connection portion, but was also doing some client/server research as well to make it better. I was tasked with looking into the PAM stuff regarding security...but with my move (you guys will be happy to know that I have moved in and I am not constantly emptying boxes as quick as I can...but I still have no phone yet, so I only connect at work - at least until Thursday, so they sat),etc I have been lacking in any major progress on that...sorry guys... There is the "State of 3Dsia" as I know it. :-) Eric Bresie eb...@us... |
