Am Don, 20 Jan 2000 hast du folgendes geschrieben: >3Dsia is possibly cooler than the Synapse Project (http://www.oreality.com/) >'cause it's design follows the principle of "think outside of the box" (or >window) and aims to create a more intuitive interface to Computing without >Windoze! I personally don't like the Synapse Project. This is actually the one project I meant in the introduction on the 3Dsia-Homepage when I said "trying to rebuild a windowing system in 3D". It is just a completely different philosopy. >3Dsia is much cooler than NetSpace (http://ns.weblink.org/) because you >dudes have actually got working code and i don't know enough about NetSpace to give an answere there, but I looked through their specs and found it quite interesting. Gerald, Marc and I think its not usable for 3Dsia though as there are some major drawbacks (such as the lack of beeing able to transmit raw Ogl-Data (or are we wrong?) ) . >a v.good development environment setup >too (although I'm not so sure about this "/root/3Dsia/" stuff in recent CVS >source code... - Marc???). well.. yes. :) thats a bit ugly and i already have had it in my .plan to change that. (bad bad marc, go into the corner for half an hour! :) >Joining the 3Dsia Project gives me all 3, therefore I intend to "sign up" on >Sourceforge as an active developer and I am keen to hear about how other people >think I can help out. just drop me a mail when you have an account, i will add you to the group. >IRC MEETING (who?/when?/where?): thats something we should really do. I would say saturday. As most of the people live in europe and USA i guess something like GMT 22:00 would be good. That would be ok for USA (I guess thats about 2-4 pm depending on which coast) and in Australia 8 am - as it is sunday in australia i guess thats no problem either (except if you sleep all day :). but tell me what you think, but i can't participate in the time of 2am-6am (sleeping) and 6am-3am (school) at workdays. > I have got in touch with the developers who have started the > "Synapse Project" and Max Harris is organising an IRC meeting sometime soon > (hopefully within the week). Honestly i am not sure what this would be good for as we do have a complete different point of view. They are aiming to create a toolkit for 3D-buttons and 3D-popupboxes and windows and all that things. they are heading to make a GTK-like api in 3D. We want to build Gibsons Matrix (the server) and an intutive to use User Interface (the client). > I am sure that everyone would benifit from a sharing ideas on IRC and I for > one would be happy to be responsible for organising/running weekly/daily > meetings. yes, i do agree bye Xandi -- xa...@bl... - Vienna - Austria project: http://threedsia.sourceforge.net/ personal: http://members.blackbox.net/alexander.feder |
