I only translated the ones I knew, guessed a couple of the others (hopefully right), and left the rest. I don't think it's necessary to get every single one of those language names translated, at least not for practical purposes. > It seems to me though that the text in Thoggen is overtly technical, can > we maybe work to simply the strings a bit, because I'm bound to get > questions on stuff like the liberal use of device and drive (we should > confine ourselves to one in the interface at least), the same goes for a > couple of other strings. That's a good idea. I didn't spend too much time thinking about the texts when I made them up. I think 'drive' or 'DVD drive' is what I generally tried to use. 'Device' is only used in a couple of strings that the user should never get to see under normal circumstances, namely when we did not find any drives via HAL and all of the fallback methods failed as well. Then thoggen pops up a dialog asking for the DVD drive device; the other strings are error messages in case the entered device doesn't look right, and admittedly are somewhat technical (e.g. "not a block device" or "fstat() failed" etc.). If you have suggestions on how to simplify/improve/rephrase strings, just send them to the list or to me, and I'll fix them. Cheers -Tim |
