I've been banging my head against a wall trying to get a horizontal and
vertical refresh rate that would work with a new batch of flat screen
monitors we have just starting using. Other monitors work fine.
However the problem was more bizarre than I expected and nothing at all
to do with refresh rates.
The error from Xorg is "no screens found" and occasionally I get another
error "AD is not a valid keyword"
The problem arises because the monitor identifies itself as being a
CDC 17" AD
meaning my Xorg config will not work as it contains an error on line 63
monitor "CDC 17" AD"
The extra set of quotes after the 17 (indicating 17 inches) is enough to
break my config due to the unknown AD keyword.
I believe that this identification string comes from the monitor, not
the Xorg packages.
1) How can I use this monitor with Xorg (I have just bought 20)
2) How can we stop TS breaking for other users with monitors that
identify them selves as 15", 17" or 19" versions. This could get more
and more common as newer monitors start to appear.
Thanks, any help would be appreciated.
