Version 2.8 (Mac OS X):
the cursor in the latex editor jumps back and forward in an unpredictable way. E.g., inserting the cursor between two words and starting to type causes the cursor to "remove" the space between the preceding word.

I can't reproduce it here either. Does it only happen in the editor window or also in search fields? Does it happen in the script editor panel (Macros -> Edit Macros)?

Perhaps it is just rendering the cursor/text wrong?

Try to adjust the render mode/settings at the bottom of the advanced editor config page
