Can you suggest a code coverage tool for tcl Lets say the scenario is : main.tcl has function : main() a.tcl has function : a() b.tcl has function : b() c.tcl has function : c() d.tcl has function : d() main is calling a which is calling b .....c is calling d. I thing activestate plugin to eclipse provides a codecoverage way but that for that I need to keep ecplise up. I want a tool which can internally cover the code in main,a,b,c,d - basically the execution path when i run a test case to cover this execution. Please help Regards |

I've already been contacted by a student wishing to take on the tclhttpd refurbish project. He sounds like a promising candidate. A CS undergraduate at Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology. I've suggested that he post to the tcl-gsoc list introducing himself. --Steve Huntley |

You need to have created your ID in melange (uses a google ID), and then you go to: http://socghop.appspot.com/org/show/google/gsoc2009/tcltk and select "Apply to become a mentor" from the left hand nav, select Tcl again and click submit. Jeff |

All, I'm in the process of filling out our application profile and I need somebody to create a mailing list for this year (we probably don't want to advertise tcl-soc2008 :) Because I need to fill in a blank, I've put down tcl...@li..., but I'm not deeply attached to that name. As we've been accepted this year GSoC effort is getting *real*. IMHO next we should: 1. Advertise on the universities. It would be good to know who in the community can advertise Tcl GSoC 2009 at the universities. From D. Richard Hipp I know that there are quite a few Tclers who have contacts with universities. IMHO the most successful way is to ask befriended academic to show 1-2 slides to students during a lecture. An example is http://docs.google.com/Present?docid=dchpzw84_219hntnv2fj&skipauth=true - that is what I've asked Richard Hipp to show during his lecture in Gdańsk. And then we have to engage students in a public discussion on the mailing list or off-list if it is more appropriate. 2. Prioritize & explain to students project ideas. Students have to know what is really important for the community and what project could be "successfully" mentored. It would be nice to express more verbatim what are our expectation, like what student should know and how much time to spend, how the work will really look like. These are just my quick thoughts after getting to know we've been accepted. More to come... --tkosiak |

That is a great news. Matthew should complete our organization profile ASAP so we can join as mentors. Updated profile seems to be also required for students to be able to send an applications to us. We are listed in section entitled as: "An overview of accepted organization applications that have not yet created their organization profile. Students can only apply to organizations that created their organization profile. It seems that this year to be a mentor you have to sign in with your google account at http://socghop.appspot.com/ and them choose something called LinkID which will serve as your nickname in the whole GSoC. Organization admins also have to choose LinkID for an organization - I think that "tcl" will be just right for us. In this year application form there is no field you can put your mentors LinkIDs (only primary and backup admin need one). So I think there is no need to hurry. Let us first be accepted. --tkosiak |

All, As Tomasz mentioned in a recent email, although I'm happy to be admin again this year, and should have more time to devote to it than last summer, the last couple of weeks have been beyond busy for me. On top of which, I've been ill the last couple of days. I have managed to free up most of this evening and I have some time tomorrow, so between that and the fact that I'm on Eastern time and the application is due on Pacific time, I think I should be able to get the application submitted. I've only been skimming the traffic on Google's mentors list--but I get the impression that the app process is slighltly different this year; at least in so far as we're using Melange (a Google workflow program?)--??? Have any of you tried it out yet? From my perspective, what would be useful is if somebody could make sure our wiki page with ideas is in good shape, all prospective mentors sign up with Google/Melange IDs (as appropriate), and if somebody looks into setting up a template for student applications (I've seen some traffic on this topic, but haven't really read them).
