I'm working to get the TclPro build to work of the SF CVS repositories, and to me that makes the most sense as a base for a BI distribution. I actually did my first compile last night, but there we some errors. Heh - I'm compiling against 8.4a2, and I've hit the known bug in incrTcl with some "deleted" member struct - anyway, I'll force an 8.3.2-based build and see how much farther I get. Regarding Jeff's comments - regardless if we include the debugger and checker et. al., I think the build infrastructure is still pretty decent. I'm having to tweak that to deal with being uprooted from the mother ship, but the end result is that folks should be able to run configure and make in one place. >>>Karl Lehenbauer said: > I request that we get moving on this. > > There is TIP 4 at http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/fellowsd-bin/TIP/4.html > > And TIP 12 at http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/fellowsd-bin/TIP/12.html > > Both describe the rationale for creating a BI distribution. > > My take is that TIP 4 proposes a simple, minimalist approach, while TIP > 12 describes a multiphase project that is more complicated, may take > longer and involve more bickering, but does more and looks further ahead > than '4, addressing supporting extension writers and beginning to > describe a roadmap to networks installs and stuff that I think we all > ultimately want. > > What are the implications of TclPro now being open source on a BI > distribution?
