TCT Members: While I wait for the core team to decide how I should submit my proposal, I am trying to format it according to your TIP specifications. Unfortunately, I don't know which format to use, as there are two available online, one heavily Tcl based and one plain text. I tried the Tcl one but quickly got bogged down in the formatting specifiers -- there are just too many different commands, and they are poorly documented (at the very least, I think they ought to follow Tcl manual entry style for explaining each command, so I don't have to read a paragraph explanation for each to determine what the arguments are to the command). I found that format difficult to use. I tried to look at the source for one of the TIP's there, as suggested, to see what it should look like, but I couldn't find the original source format. When I chose "View -> Page Source" in my browser, I was given the already-HTML-rendered version, which is useless to me at this stage. I looked at the ASCII version too and it seems to be pretty much like the Python PEP format. However, the PEP format is better documented and has real examples that I could follow, so I have formatted my proposal according to that specification. The nice thing about that was that it took me only a couple of minutes to set up and format, and when I was done, I felt that the emphasis of the document was on the proposal, rather than on the format and structure of it. In any case, there does not seem to be a final approved format for TIP's, so hopefully the format I have used will be acceptable. If not, please do the following: 1. Finalize a TIP format 2. Notify the community about the format, so that we can proceed with making compliant proposals. I eagerly await your response so that I can get my project moving.
