Tcl is more or less dieing. The set of people who think tcl's "syntax" is wonderful is a subset of the set of people here, the rest of the world wants stuff like a C like syntax, a undef value, etc. You might wonder why Go used a C like syntax instead of tcl like syntax. You might wonder why Python made unicode optional. You might wonder why Perl is so much faster than Tcl. Those are my opinions, won't be popular here (nor am I trying to make them so) but I suspect that if you ask around you'll find a bunch of non-tcl people who share them.
