Category: 34. tcltest Package Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Don Porter (dgp) >Assigned to: Don Porter (dgp) Summary: deprecate the unixExecs constraint Initial Comment: In the way overlong set of default constraints defined by tcltest, we find the constraint "unixExecs". This constraint is true if all the following executables appears to be available for [exec]: cat echo sh wc sleep chmod rm mkdir fgrep grep ps Any test suite that needs a particular executable to be available should really test for each executable it needs and define its own constraints. The only test suite known to use the unixExecs constraint is Tcl's own test suite, and it only [exec]'s cat, echo, and grep. It would be nice to do away with this constraint entirely, or at least reduce the executables tested to those actually used. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Don Porter (dgp) Date: 2004-02-25 16:25 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=80530 Note that [exec cat] is especially broken in Cygwin in its handling of the command line. Yet more reason to stop using this constraint wherever possible. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=360894&aid=681797&group_id=10894 |
