Bugs item #2942190, was opened at 2010-01-29 12:09 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by sf-robot You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=110894&aid=2942190&group_id=10894 Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: None Group: obsolete: 8.5.8 >Status: Closed Resolution: Works For Me Priority: 8 Private: No Submitted By: Doug Edey () Assigned to: Jeffrey Hobbs (hobbs) Summary: TCL 8.5.8 on AIX fails to run with "out of stack space" Initial Comment: I have successfully compiled TCL 8.5.8 with the following configure options: ./configure --prefix=$SSGTCL_INSTALL --enable-symbols --enable-shared These configure options run fine with TCL 8.4.15 however, after building TCL8.5.8 and attempting to run the binaries I get: $ /afs/ssd/projects/tools/tcl/tcl100126/bin/tclsh application-specific initialization failed: out of stack space (infinite loop?) This doesn't appear related to the Linux bug due to that being "fixed" a long time ago. All the other AIX related stack bugs have been closed due to lack of communication apparantly and I would like to get this issue resolved. Many thanks, Doug Edey ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: SourceForge Robot (sf-robot) Date: 2010-09-29 19:00 Message: This Tracker item was closed automatically by the system. Assigning to him just in case. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: miguel sofer (msofer) Date: 2010-02-01 11:38 Message: Unlikely. The workaround may be to disable stack checking altogether, thus reverting to 8.4 behaviour. The easiest way to do that is to define TCL_NO_STACK_CHECK in the compiler options, eg adding -DTCL_NO_STACK_CHECK to your CFLAGS before running ./configure ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Doug Edey () Date: 2010-02-01 10:55 Message: So is it unlikely that anyones going to look at this issue? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Donal K. Fellows (dkf) Date: 2010-01-29 13:26 Message: FWIW, the stack check is removed in 8.6 due to a redesign of the implementation engine to use much less stack (which also enables goodies like coroutines). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=110894&aid=2942190&group_id=10894 |
