Category: 41. Memory Allocation Group: development: 8.6b1.1 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Don Porter (dgp) Assigned to: Jeffrey Hobbs (hobbs) Summary: USE_TCLALLOC untested? Initial Comment: Based on a brief encounter with tclAlloc.c, I have my doubts that the code works correctly on 64-bit systems. The code appears to be unused and untested in default builds. Are there any known testers? If not, is it time to purge this bit of dead code? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Jeffrey Hobbs (hobbs) Date: 2009-08-24 14:06 Message: I have seen users on HP-UX enable it for reasons I don't recall. It may have become stale, but I'm not sure that it is ready for complete removal. This should be brought up on tcl-core and possibly news:clt before it is made final. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Don Porter (dgp) Date: 2009-08-24 14:03 Message: Attached patch purges the apparently dead code. Will commit in a few days unless someone objects. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=110894&aid=2557696&group_id=10894 |
