Category: 67. Unix Window Operations Group: current: 8.4.19 >Status: Closed >Resolution: Invalid Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: NJG (jgnemeth) Assigned to: Joe English (jenglish) Summary: wm overrideredirect on suse11.0/KDE3.5 not working Initial Comment: One additional detail (although it should have no effect on the problem): the ATI provided driver pack is installed over the one in the suse distribution (for the ATI Mobile X600 video card). The Windows counterpart does not have this problem. NJG (on the wiki) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: NJG (jgnemeth) Date: 2008-11-15 11:45 Message: Thanks for the advice. Both the withdraw-overideredirect-deiconify and the overideredirect-withdraw-deiconify sequences work. There had not been a bug after all, rather a hole in my knowledge.I have a couple of excuses though. I do Tcl/Tk development exclusively under Windows and move to Linux only at the very end for final fitting, checking and tuning. Under Windows XP overideredirect has the desired effect on mapped windows as well. Also, the Tk documentation states neither the condition you have mentioned nor the difference in behaviour under the two systems. For the less knowledgeable (like me) it is also misleading that the flag is set even on a mapped window (I checked) while the effect is not there. Sorry for the trouble and thanks again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Joe English (jenglish) Date: 2008-11-14 15:02 Message: Can you provide a test case that demonstrates the problem? [wm overrideredirect] Worked For Me under kwin last time I checked. (Note also: [wm overrideredirect $w] has no effect if $w is currently mapped; this is as expected per the ICCCM.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: NJG (jgnemeth) Date: 2008-11-14 12:14 Message: Sorry, I should have said that it has no effect, i.e. it appears as if the window manager ignores it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Joe English (jenglish) Date: 2008-11-14 10:30 Message: How is it not working? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=112997&aid=2282861&group_id=12997 |
