Dear student Tclers, the organizers of the EuroTcl conference (6-7 June in Strasbourg) http://www.eurotcl.org/ have agreed to my proposal to reserve a 1 hour slot at the conference to share among GSoC students to talk about their projects. I have been asked to give a brief introduction about GSoC, and maybe about the projects for which no student is present. With the coding period starting on 26 May, you clearly won't have done much coding yet to talk about, but I think a brief (~10 mins) introduction of your project and how you plan to attack it would still be very valuable to the audience as well as to yourselves. Obviously attending the other sessions at the conference and meeting fellow Tclers and maybe some mentors should also be very useful... If you can manage the travel and can get away at that time, I would strongly encourage you to consider attending the conference and participating in the GSoC session. Obviously this will be of most interest to European students; do note that the organizers of the US Tcl conference in October have stated that they will accept presentations about completed GSoC projects in the technical track, you might find giving a full presentation at the end of GSoC more interesting. OTOH travel to the US will be more expensive for Europeans of course (and Remigiusz tells me that obtaining a US visa might be problematic for Polish students at least). If you would like to attend, please register at the site above (registration is free without meals, or 100 EUR with meals included) and let me know by 21 May if you would like to participate in the GSoC session.
