Generic Menus Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Vince Darley (vincentdarley) >Assigned to: Jeffrey Hobbs (hobbs) Summary: long, multi-column menus post offscreen Initial Comment: Under some circumstances, a tk_optionMenu can post its menu largely offscreen. I've observed the problem both with single and multi-column menus, but have only been able to make a simple, reproducible example with multi-column menus. The following script shows how to achieve this: >wish84 % eval tk_optionMenu .om enc [lsort [encoding names]] .om.menu % pack .om % .om.menu entryconfigure 45 -columnbreak 1 Now, drag '.' to somewhere close to the top of the screen (my screen is 780 pixels tall, for reference), or at least in the top quarter. Now, use the option menu and select an item towards the end of the menu (e.g. "unicode" in the menu constructed above). Now try using the option menu a second time. It posts almost completely off the bottom of the screen, nowhere near the menu-button itself! (The above works on Win2000 sp2, at least, but the problem appears to be in tk's 'menu.tcl' file which controls menu posting) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=112997&aid=464451&group_id=12997 |
