It _is_ possible: using the wizardly tclAE package. Jon Guyer's command (below) works whether the application is hidden, minimised, or just in the background. I agree that the behaviour could be annoying, but there are cases (two co-operating applications, for example) where it is helpful. Can I add my thanks to Daniel for his quick work on the Carbon Events handler? It is just the ticket! You might consider trying my TclAE package (in Daniel's BI distro): [dogbert:~] guyer% /usr/bin/wish % package require tclAE 2.0 % tclAE::send -s misc actv This sends an activate AppleEvent to "self" -----Original Message----- From: Uwe Koloska Sent: Friday, February 04, 2005 8:50 AM Subject: Re: [MACTCL] How to hide and unhide a wish application by script? Is it possible with this commands to show the app when it is hidden? Or is this an intentional gap to prevent apps from disturbing the user? I would like to let the user choose wether the app should only signal a new state or come to the foreground (but thinking more about it, the latter could be very annoying). Uwe |
