Hello volunteers, There are several of you who have volunteered to help with the maintenance of the website translations. Here's the situation we had in the past: The front page of http://stellarium.org/ is hand-written PHP. When we release a new version we manually edit the file which makes this page, adding any new features to the features list, and updating the links at the top right of the page. The news feed is automatically taken from an RSS feed which is updated by me or another developer with an announcement for the new release. Translations of this page (e.g. http://stellarium.org/fr/ ) are done by volunteers - an announcement is made on the translations forum on sourceforge, and people who wish to do translations [used to] contact Johan, who uploads updated files to the website. The main problem with this is that Johan doesn't have time for this task any more, and the translations are getting out of date. In addition to this, we're trying to improve the way the website is managed in general - putting the files under version control and so on. Because the website is high-traffic and the public face of the project, we want to keep write-access to core developers only, but we also don't want developers to have to spend a lot of time chasing up translators. Thus we want someone / some people to act as an intermediary - liasing with translators (or doing translations themselves), editing the .php files, gathering the updates files together and then sending them to a developer who will upload the new files to the site. Exactly how this happens is up to you - because there's more than one of you, maybe you will decide to manage a few translations each, or maybe you would prefer to split the task so that one person talks to translators, one person gathers the files / updates bazaar, and so on.
