Most likely this is an environment variable issue (CLASSPATH and/or PATH). If you run the exact same javaw command on the command line (with all the same options and environment variables), does it work correctly? It seems strange that you are setting the PATH for the process to only be C:/j2sdk1.4.2/bin. I would think you would want to retain the other entries in PATH (C:/j2sdk1.4.2/bin;%PATH%). If you add the RETURNSTDOUT and RETURNSTDERR options you should get additional information to explain why the operating system could not start the process.
