Hi Kishore, Well the updated driver that I got from the Intel site in it's instructions= says that it is going to be compiled and installed for the kernel that is = running (the README says that it needs the kernel source tree for the = running kernel) So it looks like a chicken and the egg problem there. Ron >>> SAMPATHKUMAR KISHORE KANIYAR <sam...@in...> 09/29/05 4:23 AM = >>> Hello Ron, Can you not just boot without the OpenSSI kernel, just on the Base OS version, and then rebuild your driver? After that, you'll have to remember to update the modprobe.conf (in the case of Fedora Core) and re-generate the initrd file before rebooting on the OpenSSI kernel. NOTE: For some reason, my email is not reaching the mailing list. Can you please forward it to the mailing list as well? I'm getting that fixed right now. - Kishore > Hello all, >=20 > I am building a new version of the OpenSSI kernel (one that will work > with OpenAFS). >=20 > The updated driver needs to be compiled/build with the kernel that it is > built for running (and the kernel source tree in place) > However the OpenSSI kernel doesn't want to boot because it cannot find > an ethernetcard to use to add "this node" (node 1) to the cluster. >=20 > Is there a way to boot the OpenSSI kernel without it using the network > cards so that I can build the new driver ? > (The cards are in a poweredge 1850 with 82541GI/PI and 82545GM Intel PRO > 1000 Gigabit cards and the e1000 driver that "comes with" OpenSSI > doesn't work with those cards.) >=20 > thanks, >=20 > Ron >=20 >=20 >=20 > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by: > Power Architecture Resource Center: Free content, downloads, discussions,= > and more. http://solutions.newsforge.com/ibmarch.tmpl > _______________________________________________ > Ssic-linux-users mailing list > Ssi...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/ssic-linux-users >=20 |
