We also have a ASUS P4P800-something motherboard with gigabit Ethernet. OpenSSI (also the latest versions) is built on an old kernel, so most likely your Ethernet card is not supported by the sk98lin driver in the OpenSSI kernel. You need a newer driver (such as the one in the kernel of FC2). The easiest is to download a newer driver from syskonnect: http://www.syskonnect.com/syskonnect/support/driver/ge.htm Then compile it for the OpenSSI kernel and install. Your modprobe should now work with your NIC. To use your NIC as the Inter-Cluster Connect, you also need the new driver in the initrd of the OpenSSI kernel.
