Feature Requests item #926260, was opened at 2004-03-30 13:10 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=405837&aid=926260&group_id=32541 Category: None Group: None Status: Open Priority: 3 Submitted By: Brian J. Watson (bjbrew) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: mkinitrd should have --update option Initial Comment: Someone should enhance mkinitrd to have an --update option. It has a limited form of this with the --tabonly option. This, however, only updates the initrd's copy of /etc/clustertab. A true --update option would also copy in any new network drivers in /etc/modules.conf, and maybe do the proper update to /linuxrc if chard is enabled/disabled for the root. The might be some other things --update could do, too. Unlike --tabonly, the --update option could require the kernel version number as an argument (which is also needed for building an initrd from scratch). For example, it would need this to copy in new network modules. Considering that the kernel version may be required, there's some question in my mind how valuable this feature over just building an initrd from scratch. That's why the priority is low.
