I agree with what Tyler and Paul have been saying on this thread.  With
SquirrelMail 2, our major concern isn't backwards compatibility with
plugins, preferences, etc.  Our main concern is that we do everything RIGHT
this time.  the plugin stuff in 1.x is really good, but we're looking at
other alternatives to allow for more functionality.

So like everyone's been saying, don't count on compatibility between 1.x and
2.x.  I think it would just create a mess, and limit us with what we can do
in 2.x.
