googled for the error and found that DB needs to be
updated so i did that and now i am on version 1.7.6 

# pear list | grep DB
DB 1.7.6 stable

restarted apache and checked the path of pear in
php.ini also, but nothing worked out. any clues what
am i missing 

am using shared_calendars-2.0.1-1.4.0 with
calendar_sql_backend-1.1-2.0
