I took a guess based on what I saw in SquirrelMail v1.4.2 "config/conf.pl", but I never used it myself (I think I mentioned that somewhere). My suggestion helped someone before, so I figured this was th= e same. If v1.4.2. doesn't support SMPT authentication (one authentication for the whole setup as it appears to me), what does the setting do? I know, I know... RTFM or study the code.
