Hmm. Well I want to use server-side filtering because not everyone accesses their mail via SM and therefore the spam filters in it won't filter their mailbox. Besides, the services I was going to use (SPEWS and ORDB) have been around for a while and I don't think they'll go pay-to-use anytime.. Any ideas/suggestions for server-side filtering then? Forward that email about pop-before-smtp, please? It's late but I'm bored... :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Greg Smythe SysAdmin Intellstat Communications WA State Resident -----Original Message----- From: Konstantin Riabitsev [mailto:ic...@li...] Sent: Saturday, May 04, 2002 9:44 PM To: Greg Smythe Cc: squ...@li... Rblsmtpd is useless, and a pain to keep up with all the blackhole services, since they seem to appear and disappear, or become for-pay too frequently. More importantly, rblsmtpd patches weren't compiling for me on rh72, so I ditched them. From my experience, rblsmtpd was creating too much network traffic, and managed to filter less than 1% of spam. > (This next question isn't directed specifically toward you) Good, 'cause I'm not sure I can help you with that. :) There is, however, a way to use pop-before-smtp for authorization... I have the e-mail describing how to do this in front of me, but I have to incorporate it into the howto. Maybe tomorrow. :) -- 0> Konstantin ("Icon") Riabitsev / ) Duke University Physics Sysadmin ~ www.duke.edu/~icon/pubkey.asc |
