I am attempting to merge some files into an existing squashfs image. The existing image contains a partial root filesystem, so has directories like /etc, /lib, and so on. The files I am attempting to merge into the existing image are also housed in such directories, although none of the files are actually duplicates. For instance, /etc/foo may exist in the image, and I'm attempging to append /etc/bar. The problem is that mksquashfs is seen that /etc already exists, so merges the new /etc/* as /etc_1. The end result is that I have a squashfs filesystem with /etc/foo and /etc_1/bar, instead of /etc/foo and /etc/bar; this is somewhat worthless :) Is there any way around this problem? Is there a patch that allows for this sort of thing, or am I trying to do something that's funamentally impossible?
