First, verify that the sqlr-listener process is ruinning: ps -efa | grep sqlr-listener If it has shut down for some reason, then you'd get that error. If the listener is running, verify that it's actually listening: netstat -anp | grep 1640 If the listener is running and listening, you might try using telnet to connect to that port as well, just to verify that the listener is up and listening: telnet localhost 1640 That should connect successfully, though it won't display any output other than that it was able to connect. If the listener is up, running and listening and you can telnet to it, then I'm really not sure what's going on. We'll have to troubleshoot it further. David Muse dav...@fi...
