Hi Stephen, >I'm now looking at investing some time and energy into growing my skills >as a web developer- looking at Zope and Spyce in particular. SO my >questions are: 1) do these technologies play well together, 2) strengths >and weaknesses of a dedicated zope approach vs. a dedicated spyce >approach, 3) learning curves involved. 1) Not by design. They might "play well" together, but I have not tested or investigated this. 2) See: http://spyce.sourceforge.net/doc-intro_rationale.html. Zope is a complete (monolithic) server. Spyce is just a language with a tiny runtime and some standard modules and tag libraries. Spyce is closer to PHP and JSP in functionality than Zope. 3) You can perform the "getting starting" and write your first hello world in 10 minutes. The rest is just standard Python and Spyce libraries, which are extensively documented. http://spyce.sourceforge.net/doc-intro_started.html Since you are on the Spyce list, the answer is Spyce! :) All the best, Rimon. |
