Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: markfarrell (markfarrellsf) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: conversion differences between wav and raw Initial Comment: When converting a 11025 Hz 16-bit signed Integer PCM WAV to a Ulaw (or Alaw) 8000 Hz WAV or RAW file the audio content differs. WAV versions of Ulaw (or Alaw) are clean with no added noise artifacts, while RAW versions appear to have added noise artifacts. On inspection it appears the audio data is different - I'll attach samples in due course. I'm using 14.3.1 on Windows. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: markfarrell (markfarrellsf) Date: 2011-02-22 00:50 Message: I've just used the play functionality in sox to play the created wav file and the created raw file and they sound the same. I suspect the graphical sound file editor I've been playing them in is doing something clever with the wav file but not the raw file for some reason - making the wav file sound like the original and the raw file like "play" plays it. Also looked at files in hex editor and they do look like the audio data is the same. So it appears I have to work out why another tool is behiving strangely not sox. Keep up the good work - SoX is a brilliant tool. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=110706&aid=3188692&group_id=10706 |
