Without -d I only got errors. smartctl -d ata -P ignore works. The -P ignore is required for the poweron age value to be right. smartctl -d sat gives =======> INVALID ARGUMENT TO -d: sat =======> VALID ARGUMENTS ARE: ata, scsi, marvell, 3ware,N <======= Ok so the question was about smartd, not smartctl. My auto selftests are running, I use /etc/smartd.conf /dev/sda \ -d ata -S on -o on \ -P ignore \ -a \ -s (L/../../(2|6)/(4)|S/../.././(16)) \ -M daily -m root,... If I change the -d ata to -d sat, I get the barf: Aug 29 23:26:40 host smartd[32274]: File /etc/smartd.conf line 87 (drive /dev/sda): Invalid argument to -d Directive: sat Aug 29 23:26:40 host smartd[32274]: Valid arguments to -d Directive are: Aug 29 23:26:40 host smartd[32274]: ata, scsi, marvell, removable, 3ware,N The disk is exactly: Device Model: SAMSUNG SP2504C Serial Number: S09QJ10Y954... Firmware Version: VT100-33 The SATA controller is onboard: nVidia Corporation CK804 Serial ATA Controller The rpm I compiled by taking SUSE's 5.33, inserting the 5.36 source tar file instead, adultering the spec file and recompiling. Can I give any more useful info? Volker -- Volker Kuhlmann is list0570 with the domain in header http://volker.dnsalias.net/ Please do not CC list postings to me. |
