Hi,=20 I too felt like if we use python we need a platform independent widget set like wxwidget or similar... Shall we consider java for this..cos it score good points in The following areas * Truly platfrom independent as jvm available for all or most of the platfrom. * JNI (java native interface) can be used for interaction with c code. * Good number of tool kit options AWT, SWT, Swing... * Systray API's available for windows and linux see http://systray.sourceforge.net/ Your thoughts please?? Very nice development environment and debugging=20 > facilities too, I'm told. We'd need a widget set, when we don't want to run in a web browser. I'd go this route. Using a cgi or similar would even allow us to get remote statistics using lynx -dump. > Tcl/tk isn't in the list either, though I'd avoid it if at all possible. Python + tkinter? Would be platform independent but I don't like tk too much. -- Guido ------------------------------------------------------- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users.
