Hi Gaspar, The on-line manual page is for the current 'development' version of smartmontools (at the moment, version 5.27). The '-s' Directive was added after the current release version 5.26. (You'll find it absent from the on-line man pages for the version that you downloaded). So if you want to try '-s', you need to either download the package from CVS, or wait until a release of 5.27 or greater.
