A trivial question about compilation with canlock on Windows

This is perhaps a stupid question, but after compiling libcanlock,
where should I put the canlock .o-files? This is what I've done:

I've put the canlock .h-files in the mingw/include-dir.
I've put the canlock .o-files in the slrn/src/gw32objs-dir.
I've added the .o-files to $(OBJS) in Makefile.g32.

Then I compiled slrn with success and cancel lock worked. But I'm
almost sure that this isn't the right way to do it, so what is?
