So both of the original problems you stated - the Slash::Events  
lacking the years and the daily email not being sent (is now being  
sent) are solved?

The way you have done your skins, is non-standard. I would think it  
*should* work, but realistically probably hasn't ever been tested/ 
tried by anyone. I'd assume most people do not try to swap out the  
'mainpage' skin and repoint it to another skid. Atleast, I've never  
come across a site that's tried this.

What do you mean when you say "as a result almost all of my stories  
are 'gray' when I list them"? List them where? In the Admin-Story  
editor? Because when I look at a page that seemingly lists stories on  
your site, it looks fine:
