Hello all, I have got the network mode working using SDL_net. Those who can please start testing the branch 'sdl_net_try2' found in the git repo. Yes, there are some known problems with the new support. These aren't done because I need more time to finish up. * Chat messages during game setup are not forwarded by the host yet. * Peer discovery (udp) is not fully worked out. As such, there can be problems connecting or starting the game if you have a weird setup. * While in game, disconnections are not being handled. I want people to test the branch when they get the chance. Network stability does look better than 2.12 so far. So that means the biggest problems may have been in DirectPlay or ImMulti.dll. (I am not able to test 2.13) You will need SDL_net somewhere on your system to compile with support. You should be able to turn it on with ./configure.pl --enable-sdlnet If you are joining a game, use '7kaa -join 10.0.0.1' where 10.0.0.1 is an IP address or hostname (I think that works?). A game host can just start the game using normal methods. You should be able to play to up to 7 players. I haven't tested it though. I was able to get to play 32 years, and crashed on what may have be an out of memory error. So there may be a memory leak in the game. I tell ya, playing on two screens is quite a thing to do. -Jesse |
