SimThyr has been updated to version 4.0.6. This release fixes a bug, where certain loads (TRH tests and TBG rise in pregnancy or on oral anticonception) weren't correctly handled. The new version is available for macOS, Windows, Linux and other major operating systems.
With immediate effect, a special version of SimThyr is also available for command-line interfaces. This edition is intended for science and research use. It supports remote control and automation on the local computer and on distant hosts.
SimThyr 4.0.5 is available for all major platforms. This is a recommended bug-fix release.
SimThyr has been updated for macOS. Version 4.0.4 fixes a few minor bugs.
SimThyr 4.0.3, a bug fix release, has been made available. In addition to addressing some stability issues this is the first version to be notarized by Apple, thereby facilitating easy installation on newer versions of macOS.
Version 4.0.3 can be downloaded from http://simthyr.sf.net or https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1303822 .
SimThyr 4.0.2 is finished. It features multiple bug fixes, and it is the first version to support the Cocoa API, 64-bit processors and the dark mode on macOS. The new version is available from http://simthyr.sf.net or https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1303822.
Today, SimThyr has been released in version 4.0.1. This is a bug-fix release that is recommended for all users. Please see http://simthyr.sf.net or http://simthyr.sourceforge.io for more information.
A short article in the Wikipedia reviews SimThyr along with some scientific papers that emerged from simulations with this software. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SimThyr for details.
SimThyr has been included in the Zenodo OpenScience repository created by OpenAIRE and CERN. See https://www.zenodo.org/record/1305051#.W0rzcS35zv0 for details.
The handbook for SimThyr has been updated to reflect version 4.0. It is available from http://simthyr.sourceforge.net/manual.html along with archived previous versions.
We are pleased to announce SimThyr 4.0, a major re-write of the popular virtual thyroid homeostasis software.
This version features a plethora of new functions, including but not limited to null isocline plots, enhanced data export options and model annotations supporting the creation of MIRIAM-compliant models. This functionality required a partial re-implementation of the simulation engine and more than 130 SVN commits. In additions, multiple bugs have been fixed.... read more
A second beta version of SimThyr 4.0 is available from http://sourceforge.net/projects/simthyr/files/Unstable%20versions/ . It fixes some bugs that were left in the first beta version and adds the option to save results of two-way sensitivity analysis as numeric values.
A prerelease version of the upcoming SimThyr 4.0 (Merlion) has been made available from http://sourceforge.net/projects/simthyr/files/Unstable%20versions/ . The archive contains source code and compiled applications for macOS and Windows.
Please note that this is an unfinished beta version that may still contain significant bugs.
SimThyr 3.3 has been tested with macOS 10.12 (Sierra) and found to be compatible and well functional.
A recently published perspective article, which was authored by an international team of contributors in the journal Frontiers in Endocrinology, reviews theoretical background and diagnostic utility of SPINA-GT, SPINA-GD and other calculated parameters of thyroid homeostasis. In addition to summarizing the results of clinical studies covering more than 10,000 subjects it reports results of computer simulations with SimThyr. The authors of this silico study post-processed the output of sensitivity analysis with SimThyr with custom R scripts to deliver a semi-deterministic Monte Carlo simulation. The results confirm earlier observations that SPINA has higher reliability than native concentrations of TSH and peripheral thyroid hormones.... read more
Good news, SimThyr has been curated by SciCrunch.
SciCrunch, a "cooperative and collaborative data and resource discovery platform for scientific communities", is a key tool of the Resource Identification Initiative. From now on, authors can easily cite SimThyr by adding its RRID to their papers.

We are excited that for the second time SimThyr has received the eLearning Label of the Ruhr University of Bochum. This label is bestowed as accompanying software of a series of lectures on internal medicine, which is enhanced by computer simulations and exercises with SimThyr. See https://twitter.com/SimThyrTeam/status/620685839857766400 for details.
SimThyr has been updated to version 3.3.3. This bug-fix release addresses two issues affecting the editor for structure parameters.
SimThyr 3.3.3 is available from http://simthyr.sf.net for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
Two recent research papers suggest that an additional mechanism might control T3 secretion in humans. Integration of in silico-analyses with SimThyr and observation of data of more than 1000 patients with and without substitution therapy with levothyroxine (L-T4) gave new hints that in humans TSH might stimulate deiodinase activity in vivo.
It is known for long time that cAMP up-regulates both type 1 and type 2 deiodinase, and it could also be shown that TSH (which uses cAMP as second messenger) is able to stimulate deiodination, but these observations resulted from animal experiments and cell culture investigations only. It was unknown if they are of any relevance in humans and on the level of the whole organism.... read more
SimThyr 3.3.1 has been released. This is a bug fix release that addresses several stability issues affecting file handling, two-way sensitivity analysis and GUI functionality.
The new version that is recommended for all users of SimThyr is available from http://simthyr.sf.net .
As accompanying software of a series of lectures on internal medicine, SimThyr has received the eLearning Label of the Ruhr University of Bochum. See https://twitter.com/SimThyrTeam/status/492046768998449152 for details.
On the occasion of the World Thyroid Day we have released SimThyr 3.3.
The new version introduces significant new features, first of all support for two-way sensitivity analysis. This technique allows for studying the combined effect of two structural parameters on a behavioural parameter (i.e. hormone level). Additionally, SimThyr 3.3 adopts version handling for scenario files, an option to switch off the circadian TRH rhythm and more flexible handling of units of measurement based on PUMA Repository, Last but not least some bugs have been fixed.... read more
SimThyr has been published in version 3.2.4. This is a hot-fix release that addresses the tracker items #18 ("Scenario files are not correctly read in") and #19 ("Windows: Text in help window too small to be read").
SimThyr 3.2.4 is available from http://simthyr.sf.net or http://simthyr.berlios.de for Mac OS X, Linux and Windows.
We are glad to announce that SimThyr has been released in version 3.2.3 today. This is a bug-fix release that addresses numerous issues including the tracker items #12 to #17.
