I'd suggest to use 'ps -ef | grep sec'=20 to get the list of all active SEC processes, and then use 'kill=20 <processnumber>' from removing them (kill <processnumber> will deliver=20 the SIGTERM signal to the SEC process, which terminates the process=20 gracefully). For example: ps -ef | grep sec (and you will probably see the following output: root 26451 26359 0 Sep 20 ? 2:57 /usr/bin/perl -w=20 /etc/opt/sec.pl -input=3D/etc/opt/pipe) kill 26451 (the first number is the id of the process) If you want the things to be smoother in the future, let SEC to create a=20 pidfile with the -pid option, e.g., /usr/bin/sec.pl -detach -conf=3D/etc/myconf -input=3D/var/log/messages=20 -pid=3D/var/run/sec.pid Then you can print out the content of the pidfile with 'cat=20 /var/run/sec.pid' to stop the process (note, however, that this works=20 only if you have one SEC daemon running at a time). I would also suggest to have a look for sample SEC startup files for=20 RedHat in the SEC package, since these scripts might help you to set up=20 correct startup/shutdown procedures both for boot or for manual actions. hth, risto >=20 > Thanks for your help so far=20 >=20 > Regard > Lee Francis >=20 > _____ >=20 > In theory, there is no difference between theory and > practice.
