Hello all,
We use 7zip to compress a vmware image as a snapshot. The VM is shutdown and we just compress the whole folder the VM is in. I noticed that the vmdk files compress fine but it is the vmxk files which are tiny 1KB files take over 30 minutes to compress!?! Is this a bug or something else?
7zip is version 9.1 beta.
THank you,
FM
1) There is no 7-Zip "9.1 beta" version.
2) What is a number of files? Note that HDD can provide only about 100 seek operations per second. So if these files have random location on hdd, HDD can't read them faster.
Is it NTFS system?
