Hello All I believe the binary installer is broken in Ubuntu and Ubuntu based systems. I think I had reported it earlier. Even though I have sudo access, and if I do: echo $EUID on console and it returns 0, the condition fails in the shell script. I had to manually comment out the failcheck line to install from the binary. Uncommenting them installs and then sedna runs without any problem. if test ! "$EUID" "=" "0"; then echo -n "NOTICE: $DISTNAME is system software that requires deep integration with your operating system. " echo -n "To obtain best performance Sedna components use sophisticated memory management techniques and " echo -n "low-level disk access operations, which require additional privelegies." echo "" echo "" failwith "You have to be root to perform installation operation." fi BTW, this logic will fail if I am trying to install with a user having SUDO access. In that case the EUID is never 0 and the condition will always fail even if I have SUDO access and I dont like doing: sudo su. Its a security risk. -- Ritesh http://www.riteshn.com |
